Amritpal Singh hunt LIVE Updates: Khalistani leader's uncle, driver surrender before Punjab Police, search operations on for 3rd day

The search operations by Punjab Police to arrest Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh continued for the third day across the state, who has now been declared a fugitive. Amritpal Singh's driver Harpreet and uncle Harijeet have surrendered before police in Mehatpur and sources said they were taken to police station last night.

As the crackdown on Amritpal Singh-backed Waris Punjab De organisation continued, Punjab Police arrested 34 more arrests made yesterday, and a total of 112 associates of the Khalistani leader have been arrested so far. Police on Sunday conducted flag marches and searches across Punjab and section 144 of the CrPc, which prohibits congregations, was imposed in the union territory of Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana. Prohibitory orders were already in force in some parts of Punjab.

Punjab government has extended curbs on mobile internet and SMS services till Monday noon. The self-styled radical preacher has been on the run since the Punjab Police launched a massive crackdown on Saturday.

The crackdown came weeks after Singh and his supporters barged into the Ajnala police station near Amritsar, extracting an assurance that an arrested man would be released. Stay tuned for LIVE updates.

Canada's New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh raised concerns over the Punjab police's massive crackdown in the state to arrest Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh.

In a tweet, he wrote, “I am deeply concerned by reports that India has suspended civil liberties and imposed an internet blackout throughout the state of Punjab. These draconian measures are unsettling for many given their historical use to execute extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances during the 1984 Sikh Genocide."
